Supplements and foods: what you should know
The use of sleep supplements depends on the type of problem each person has. Having trouble falling asleep is not the same as waking up in the middle of the night, and not all products work the same way. Among the most popular are melatonin, magnesium, ashwagandha, and tryptophan. They are easy to obtain, and precisely for that reason, it's worth stating clearly: self-medicating is not advisable. What works for someone else is not necessarily what your body needs. There is also a more everyday approach. Some foods provide substances that promote sleep—nuts, almonds, bananas—and a warm drink like tea or a glass of warm milk can also work as part of that end-of-day routine.
